Get ahead of the trend for 2020 with Pantone's leaked colour forecast

The 2020 Pantone colour of the year has been leaked and I couldn't be happier about it. It speaks to my soul in gorgeous shades of blue and green. Anything that reminds me of the ocean has a peaceful, blissful effect on my psyche and brings me the serenity sorely needed in today's fast paced busy world. Speaking at a seminar, Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, had this to say ... " Blue will take center stage, while Browns are important across the gamut and are inspired by dried seaweed and driftwood.” Besides the coastal-inspired colours mentioned, she expects sand-like whites and cool green hues to play an important role. The key to successful decorating with such a diversity of colour is to layering these ocean inspired colours to create a textural feel. In her words, “It’s anything but flat.”

2019 is strong, bold colours and incorporating the above idea into your home is going to keep you on trend this year and going into next year when the new Pantone colours are released. Blue and green is so beautiful when mixed together tastefully.

And don't forget to add some Hygge interior design to your home. Hygge, pronounced "hoo-ga", is roughly translated as "cosiness" or "togetherness"; it's concept first said to have been developed during the 18th century in Denmark. Known as Scandinavia’s latest gift to the world, "Hygge" is the hip lifestyle trend that has flooded the world of interior design and fashion. Hygge is a feeling of wellbeing that is created through simplistic living, appreciating the small things in life and cosy contentment. It is about sharing intimate moments with friends and family. Hygge is about investing in your emotional wellbeing; it is an escape from hectic consumerism and a return to the simple, cosy, handmade items. Loosely translated, it incorporates mood light with candles, blankets and cushions, rugs, wood in the form of floors and wall claddings, and not to mention roaring fires with winter around the corner. It incorporates simplicity and indulgence and last but not least, sanctuary.
